Mangroves are nothing but resilient! These essential salt-tolerant trees thrive among the harsh growing conditions of the coast. They serve as a nursery for a variety of marine species & are the first line of defense against storms & hurricanes. If you've ever wandered along the coast of South Florida, you've definitely come across the three mangrove species found in the state: red, white, & black.

For me, Mangroves are a reminder that we need to not only take care of our individual "habitats," but also protect the rest of the environment (just as they do for our coast).

If Mangroves want to protect us, why don't we protect them?

Here are some of my favorite photographs of Red Mangroves taken in Key Largo (1), Hutchinson Island (2-5, 7, 9-10,12) @biscaynenps (6), & @evergladesnps (8, 11).
