Burrowing owls are a "hoot" to observe! 🦉

No, really, they're a remarkable pint-sized species filled with lots of character (if you couldn't tell from these photos 😂).

Burrowing owls are located as far south as the southern tip of South America to as north as Canada. Unlike other owls, they nest underground and are found in prairies, deserts, grasslands, agricultural fields, and now empty lots due to urbanization. While burrowing owls are not listed as endagngered in Florida, they are listed as threatened. It's important to keep your distance & call FWC at 1-888-404-FWC to report any unmarked nests!

Note: Breeding season in Florida is February 15-July 10, so keep this information in mind for next year!

A tribute to the bold city 🩵

I know the majority of the content I share highlights the beauty outside of Jacksonville, but that wasn't always the case. I developed my love for visual storytelling here while studying TV production & IB film studies at Paxon (c/o 2016) and earning a minor in photography from @jacksonvilleu (c/o 2020). I'd spend my free time running around Jacksonville, capturing sunrises at the beach, sunsets in downtown, or doing photoshoots with my friends in all the cool places. Of course, eventually, I took jobs that led me outside of the city where I was able to grow my craft more as a landscape & wildlife photographer. And while I definitely do prefer capturing more remote subjects in nature, I just wanted to say a quick thank you to Jax for being an incredible city to kickstart my passion for the visual arts. You're more than underrated & even though I may not live here forever, you'll always be home to me. Thank you, Jax!

Wild Florida 🌴

While I love Florida beaches, Florida wetlands are my favorite place to explore & observe wildlife (after scuba diving reefs of course!). I was so happy to finally make my way to Myakka this past May because back when I worked for Mote Marine Lab in Sarasota (2020), I had wanted to go visit, but was living off of my savings. Making the drive just wasn't didn't in my budget :( After I moved back home, I never thought I'd get a chance to visit, but I'm glad that wasn't the case! It truly is truly a special place. Go check it out if you're in the Venice / Sarasota area 🙂
